Can Exercise Be an ADHD Medication?

This makes good sense from a scientific perspective as well as from a cultural perspective.

How to Maybe Avoid a Car Accident

A call recently from a patient who had been hit from behind by another vehicle prompts us to write this article.

She had been driving to work on the freeway during rush hour when the traffic speed quickly reduced from moving along OK to zero mph. As often happens, she was rear-ended because the vehicle behind her did not see that the traffic had come to a stop. Whether she would have had time to quickly tap her emergency flashers on, forewarning the car in back and thus avoiding the hit, we do not know. We do know that there have been many times my wife and I have been in similar circumstances, had enough time and inclination to tap the switch, and felt relief that the cars in back were alerted to the stopped traffic ahead and braked in time. We have never been hit from behind.

Just lucky? Maybe. Maybe not, and our little trick has worked as planned. We pass it to you for your consideration of using it and maybe avoiding injury and the hassle of vehicle repairs and insurance matters.

If you are not so lucky and are in an accident some day, or know someone who has been injured in a collision, please consider scheduling a consultation and possibly care with us. Our patients have been very helpful in creating testimonials and telling others how much our care has helped them recover from injuries; from collisions, sports injuries, on-the-job injuries, lifting mishaps, slips and falls, you name it. Our web site has a page of patient testimonials as well as a page of information for those who have been injured in car accidents. Take a look:  Auto Accident Injuries

"Conservative Care First!"

Starting with a conservative approach to health care such as chiropractic services before moving on to riskier treatments makes sense. More than 27 million Americans visit a doctor of chiropractic each year for safe, effective and lasting relief from back pain, neck pain and headaches, as well as advice on healthy living and injury prevention.
If you know someone who is living with pain and lessened functional ability, especially if they are also "living" on prescription pain killers, send this to them. It could make a huge difference in their life.

Get That Second Opinion from a Doctor of Chiropractic

I would venture to guess that most DCs (Chiropractors) have at least a few stories to tell after a few years in practice in which they were able to keep their patient out of surgery.

We even help some avoid non-spinal surgery for things like carpel tunnel syndrome. It's simple really. Address the cause by treating at the level of the cause; unlike surgery which treats at the level of the effect. This is okay, but only after conservative treatments are no longer an option.

Do you know someone who suffers pain and/or loss of ability from simple, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions? Tell them about chiropractic and pass this on to them. Please share this on your FB page. It could keep someone you love out of an unnecessary surgery.

Massage for Low back Pain?

Fortunately, at Levin and Chellen Chiropractic you can have your chiropractic and your muscle therapy in one place. Drs. Levin and Chellen specialize in hands-on rebalancing of the muscles and other connective tissues which are almost always an integral part of bodily complaints like low back pain, hip pain, neck pain, headaches, carpel tunnel syndrome, etc. On a recent visit with a patient she remarked that she got more benefit from her treatments with our office than she did with her massage therapist because we address both the joint and the muscular components of her problems. Very few chiropractic offices do this, but we feel it is well worth the extra effort and time! In the long run it takes fewer visits and gets the patient back to the joy of life much quicker when treatment is this thorough!

Could My Back Pain be Caused by Stress?

Some of the worst pain (shoulder) I have ever had was during a time of profound personal stress.  I had not been able to relate it to anything like an injury or overuse or sleeping "funny" on it.  So, I went to my chiropractor.  She treated me and it got better.  Of course.

Even though a bodily pain may be stress or emotionally generated it makes sense by the principles of anatomy and physiology that a physical therapy like chiropractic is a good choice to treat it.

Sometimes it just feels right to get adjusted.  It's a part of taking care of ourselves, like going to the dentist a couple times a year.  Our frames and nervous systems need maintenance too!  Ask any chiropractic fan and they'll tell you.  I wish I had a nickel for every patient who has told me over the years, "I think I'll start coming in for regular care, say every month or two.  What do you think? Would that be a good idea?"  Don't take our word for it.  Go to our web site and read our patient testimonials.

Is there an ache or pain or less-than-optimally functioning body part you'd like to address?  Give us a call today.  We'd love to help you too!
